This program examines primary sources as evidence of Australia’s history and the history of the ACT as the chosen site for the Nation’s capital. Students will investigate primary sources about federation, and the history of the constitution, leading to the establishment of the ACT. This inquiry driven program also explores historical images of Canberra before and after federation, including local First Nations’ histories. A historical tour of one of the National Triangle’s oldest buildings, East Block, is a key feature of this unique program for young, local historians.
