WWI - Identity and Obligation

This program can be booked from 7 September 2026.

This program examines primary sources related to Australia’s participation in the First World War. Students consider the history of Australia's relationship to Great Britain and its implications for this period. Consideration will be given to ethical questions connected to Australia’s participation in war, relating to obligation, exclusion, recognition, and the history of conscription debates. This inquiry driven program invites students to reflect on the inherent nature – and limits – of citizen rights and freedoms during wartime.
